Bloom Updates 5/20/2026

May is already more than half way through. What a spring it has been. To be honest I expected more blooms to be here by now. We had days of 90s then a hard freeze in April. Then an extended cool spell. The extreme swings in temperature make crop predictions difficult. I am working hard to keep the plants as happy as possible. The good news is…. everything really does look great. My hard work in protecting from the elements the best I can, is starting to pay off. Just a tad later than I hoped.

So what is happening around our little farm?!

Sweet Peas are going nuts!

As cold hardy as sweet peas are, I still had to protect them many times during this crazy spring. They do not have an extremely long vase life. But there scent and beauty makes up for it. I always tell people that different flowers have different vase lives. And to make your flowers last just pick out the ones that have served their time and leave the others in clean water.

Ranunculus! These layered beauties do indeed have a great vase life. However they hate the heat. So they are living under shade cloth to try to keep them going longer. After the heatwave we are back to temperatures they enjoy for a little. So fingers crossed.

Campanula!

I am the most excited for this crop. I have white and dark purple this year. When they bloom the bells look like a little tea cup or a fairy skirt. They are whimsical and stunning. These can easily last in the cooler and in a vase for weeks. Stay tuned because you need these on your counter!

Snap Dragons are beginning! last year I had a very rocky time with these beauties. The pests were getting after them no matter how hard I tried. But so far so good for this season. I am really focused on soil health. Bringing lots of native plants on to the property to invite good bugs to eat the bad bugs.

Gysophila or commonly known as baby’s breath. Gina can attest to my resistance in planting this. I thought I hated it. But this is not your imported baby’s breath. It really is so pretty, light, and airy. So FINE I am here to say I am glad I gave it a try!

This is my feverfew patch starting to bud up.

There is so much to highlight I could keep on going.

Buplureum

Statice

Strawflower

Calendula

Phlox

Stock

Foxglove

Delphinium

Corncockle

Sea Holly

Lemon Basil

Zinnias

Cosmos

Amaranth

Gomphrena

Dill

Bee Balm

Yarrow

Lisianthus

Lillies

Just so much. I love everything. I love trying everything. I know I should focus on a few crops but that just is not who I am. So I will try to keep my Facebook and instragram updated with roadstand offerings. We have weddings and small events we are working on. Planning my annual fundraiser. Stay tuned for all the things!!
