Our Story

6134 Palm Rd. is home to our completely chemical free, small but mighty flower farm, A Rae Blooms.

We are a family of five, plus four furry friends. If you stop by the stand, you’re likely to see any or all of my children; Eddie-the oldest, Everett-the middle or Abby our youngest and inspiration for our farm, running all over our property enjoying time on the tire swing, running through the fields or staring up at the clouds. We love how much they enjoy the outdoors and hope our love for this little farm we are building transfers to them for generations to come.

The dream for this farm came from my need to nurture. Once I knew I was done having children I wanted something in my life that would constantly remind us of the beauty in the world. When I am not in the fields or running after my three wildflowers, I am a Mammographer. Trying to help women put themselves first, one booby at a time!

None of this would be possible without my husband, Ed. By trade, he is a plumber and on the weekend he is a dedicated father, husband and farm hand. If I can dream it, he can build it.

The name A Rae Blooms, was inspired by our “ray of sunshine,” our daughter, Abigail Rae. The play on words; ‘array of blooms,” just felt right.

Our village is what makes all of this possible. The support of our extended family, our friends and our community are the drive behind the dream.

Especially, our best friend Gina Banes. Gina has been a constant support since we started dreaming. Her love of flowers, our family and our dream is something we am so grateful for. You are likely to see her, even if i’m not there, cutting buckets full to stuff in the cooler, making arrangements, chasing her own kids around my yard, etc. Everything we do, we do it better together.

I appreciate you all from the bottom of my heart. The connections we have built through the flower community are connections I can say that I will truly cherish forever.

Flowers are often part of the most beautiful times of our lives and the most tragic times of our lives. They have the ability to ground us in the most trying of situations and add to the beauty of the milestones we grow through. Our mission is to support our people. our beautiful earth, and the pollinators who dance along the blooms with us.

Stop by, we can’t wait to meet you!

xoxo,

Brooke Skears
